Enrolments & Fees

All enrolments for Woodhouse Grove Kindergarten are managed by the Whitehorse Pre-School Association, (WSPA), via a central enrolment scheme. All enrolment applications are required to be submitted by the end of June of the preceding year. A copy of our enrolment policy is available within the policies folder on site or you can contact the Kindergarten for this. Application forms can also be obtained directly from the staff at the Kindergarten.

Please note when enrolling your child that:

  • All children must have attained the age of four years by the 30th of April in the year of attendance to attend 4 year old Kindergarten.
  • Children must have turned three by the 30th of April in the year of attendance to attend 3 year old kindergarten, and may only attend once they have turned three (see below).

Offers of a place in the Kindergarten will be made in August.  To accept the offer and secure a place for your child, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required. If no acceptance is received within the designated period, the place will be offered to a child on the waiting list.

Children turning 3 after the commencement of the kinder year

Children who turn 3 in February, March or April are eligible to attend 3 year old kinder of that year, but cannot begin attending sessions until their third birthday.  This is due to regulations relating to child to educator ratios for children of different age groups.  We are not able to have parents accompany children during these sessions, as past experience has shown that the regular presence of parents other than those rostered as helpers for the session creates difficulties for the whole group settling in.

The teaching staff will make every effort to ensure that children who start kindergarten after the beginning of the year have the support that they need to settle in and have a happy start to their kindergarten experience.  Given that a place is being reserved for children who do not start kinder at the first session, full fees must still be paid.

The Kindergarten is a non-profit service organisation providing pre-school services for 3 and 4 year old children. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) provides some funding for kindergarten but does not cover the full costs of running the Kindergarten.  Fees are therefore charged for all children attending.

The committee sets fees after the Treasurer has formulated a budget and is committed to setting fees that are affordable to families and will enable the ongoing viability of the kindergarten.  Please note that term fees are non-refundable.

Term 1 fees are due and payable on or before the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held in late November the previous year. An invoice will be emailed to each family per term. It is your obligation to discuss any other fee paying arrangement with the Committee person responsible.

Fees for 2022:

  • 4 Year Old Group for 15 hours per week: $525 per term
  • 3 Year Old Group for 8 hours per week: $395 per term

These fees are payable two weeks before the end of the previous term.

For children attending 4 year old group, the State Government provides an extra subsidy for families on a Health Care Card or pension, so please write the CRN number on your child’s enrolment form and present the card for photocopying. Your term fees will be reduced by the amount of the subsidy.

Our Kindergarten

At Woodhouse Grove Kindergarten we want the children to know they can try it themselves, be themselves, celebrate diversity, play fair, look after the world, feel safe and enjoy their kindergarten journey.   We see children as individuals who each have their own interests, ideas and perspectives.  We believe in empowering the children to grow, take on risks, work independently, build resilience and express themselves in many ways.  We offer the children new learning experiences and develop new skills whilst enabling them to make choices, develop their independence and feel a sense of pride and achievement.
